BSPFI sponsors education program for the physically challenged people

Barkada ng Sagrada Pamilya Foundation Inc. (BSPFI)’s made a significant decision recently by forging a partnership with Niño’s Pag-asa Center, a non-profit institution located at Zone 13 Mulawin Lane, Old Cabalan, Olongapo City. Ninos Pag-Asa Center takes care and provides shelter to children with physical disabilities rescued from streets or from very poor families. Mrs. Araceli H. Menor, Niño’s Pag-asa’s executive director submitted a project proposal to BSPFI regarding educational assistance for physically handicapped kids (deaf, blind and mute) which were rescued from the streets of Zambales, Olongapo and Bataan. The memorandum of agreement states that BSPFI will shoulder the salaries of two full time SPED teachers that will educate 23 physically handicapped kids.

All previous assistance of BSPFI concerns scholarship grants to individual students who do not have ways and means to support their higher education. The case of Niño’s Pag-asa marks the first time that the foundation would cater to an institution, not just an individual. Although this may mean deeper financial challenge to BSPFI, there is a sense of a new mission for the people behind the foundation. Paying for the monthly salaries of the two SPED teachers would mean that BSPF is supporting not only just two individuals but 23 children who are under the care of Niño’s Pag-asa.

In effect, the following boys and girls of the center are now beneficiaries of the foundation: Andrew Perez, Gloma Dimain, Lourdes Joy Misa, Alex Capilitan, Judie Delos Reyes, Johnvee Gatpandan, Aldrin Mesa, Mark Vincent Misa, Jan-Jan Moraga, Richard Nasak, Marcial Pirtez, Joseph Agustin Rotas, Arnel Roxas, Edmond Sundiam, Adi-Adi Tolentino, Tino Yabut, Zarina Dalisay, Merlina Dela Cruz, Ma. Victoria Gatpandan, Pauline Grace Gaton, Rita Guanzon, Daisy Hernandez, and Anna Marie Sundiam.

With the BSPFI’s assistance, these boys and girls find hope anew amidst their disabilities and truly believes that the cycle of poverty in their life is finally approaching its end.
